The opening of the Wuzhen Summit of the Internet Conference focuses on AI, and Xi Jinping advocates for a community with a shared future in the network, emphasizing innovation and security

The 2024 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit opened in Wuzhen, Tongxiang, Zhejiang Province yesterday (20th) morning. The theme of this year's Wuzhen Summit is "Embracing the Digital Future of Putting People First and Intelligence for Good - Joining Hands to Build a Community of Shared Future in Cyberspace", focusing on artificial intelligence (AI).
China is willing to work with other countries in the world to seize the historical initiative of the development of the information revolution, join hands to build a community of shared future in cyberspace, and make the Internet benefit the people and the world.
Ding Xuexiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the opening ceremony and made four suggestions, including improving global governance, respecting the cyber sovereignty of all countries, and enhancing the representation and voice of emerging market countries and developing countries; Strengthen collaborative and integrated innovation, actively expand cooperation in fields such as artificial intelligence, big data, and blockchain, and enhance international innovation and entrepreneurship cooperation and technology transfer and transformation; Strengthen fairness and inclusiveness, promote global sharing of the achievements of Internet development, and assist developing countries in informatization; Enhance network security protection, combat cybercrime, and properly respond to risks and challenges posed by technologies such as artificial intelligence.
The summit held 24 sub forums on topics such as global development initiatives, digital economy, artificial intelligence technology innovation and governance. For the first time, an artificial intelligence section was added to discuss AI technology innovation and governance, AI empowerment of new quality productivity, and other related topics. The summit establishes the World Internet Conference Artificial Intelligence Professional Committee and establishes a regular and professional international exchange platform.
Vice President Florentino of Honduras, Vice President Nalumango of Zambia, Deputy Prime Minister Le Chan Long of Vietnam, and Zhejiang Provincial Party Secretary and Governor Wang Hao attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches; UN Deputy Secretary General Li Junhua delivered a video speech. Hong Yaozhuang, CEO of the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA), and Lei Jun, founder of Xiaomi Technology, also delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. He called China a fertile ground for internet innovation. Li Shulei, Minister of the Central Propaganda Department, was present but did not speak. He delivered a speech at the main forum in the afternoon.

The summit has established the "World Internet Conference Outstanding Contribution Award" to recognize individuals and companies who have made outstanding contributions in the global Internet related field. The summit has launched the World Internet Conference Think Tank Cooperation Program, with the participation of about 60 think tanks in the global Internet field. The summit will establish the World Internet Conference Digital Training Institute and hold a Global Internet Talent Excellence Program training course to serve government departments, social organizations, and corporate management around the world, especially in developing countries.
As an important event of the summit, the "Light of the Internet" Expo opened two days ago.
